A country rock song

I don’t know what you were doing when
You met me and said I was deep
Deep is such a shallow word for what
I’m left with when you sleep

Every moment since that day
Since you dropped it and walked away
I felt the passion draining away
Now I’m as shallow as you

Today I found a photograph of
The day that you moved in
I could hardly catch my breath
And all you would do was grin

Every moment since that day
I stowed everything away
I thought a tiny price to pay
Now I’m as shallow as you

I’m as shallow as you when you flash your smile
I’m a mannequin doll that you dress with style
I’m spread like paste and I ran a mile
From my feelings for you
Now I’m as shallow as you

You didn’t know what you were doing when
You held me and rocked me to sleep
Your cold, cold touch and those steely eyes
That never learnt how to weep

Every moment since that day
I’ve waited just to hear you say
Anything to make me stay
Was I as shallow as you?

I was as shallow as you when you flashed your smile
I was a mannequin doll that you dressed with style
I was spread like paste and I ran a mile
To my feelings from you
I ain’t as shallow as you
